(watching TV with mom in
the guest bedroom around 8 pm; commercial for Lunestra
comes on!)
Sophia (excitedly):
Mama, mama! That’s the medicine
that I want to take that my dad won’t let me take!!!
Mama: Lunestra!?
Sophia: Yes,
can you believe that he won’t let me take it!?
Mama (wondering what is going on because Sophia
always falls asleep before her head even hits the pillow): Uh, that sounds right to me. You’re a kid and you sleep well. It doesn’t seem like the kind of thing you
should be taking at all.
Sophia (dramatically): But, Mama, I lay awake for HOURS . . . I don’t
fall asleep until MIDNIGHT!
Mama (skeptically):
Oh, really?
8:30 pm: As
with every other night, Sophia is sound asleep.
