We went to visit Mama and Baba’s alma mater today.  I was very interested in the ants that were crawling on the brick road next to where we parked the car.  I also tried to step on them to kill them.  Mama found it disturbing but nostalgic because years ago, she had tried to tell her next door neighbor (a little 4 year old boy) that he shouldn’t try to kill the ants and that they might be trying to get home to their moms and dads.  Mama tried to tell me the same thing.  I told her that it was okay that I was trying to kill them because they didn’t have any mothers . . . go figure.  Mom was just content to know that she was able to convince me to at least pick up the cherry pit I had spit on the ground.  J

Mama says maybe I’ll be an artist because I have a good eye.  I saw a book while at the book store (7 Chinese Sisters) illustrated by Grace Lin.  It looks like this:

I said:  "hey, Dim Sum for Everyone!" Helen A-Yi had recently gotten us a book called “Dim Sum for Everyone” (see above right) which we love.  It turns out, indeed, the same illustrator illustrated both books.  Can you tell!?
