(we had another
snow day; several inches of snow fell through the day yesterday and overnight
into the morning; most school districts in our state were closed and the
college closed as well)
Julia: How will the people in our Spanish class (held at the college) know that class is being cancelled?
Mama: Well, the college sends out texts, phone messages and emails.
Julia: Who makes that decision?
Mama: Usually the president of the college.
Julia: Oh, so the prisoner (SIC) of the college texts or emails everyone?
Mama: Sort of.
Julia: How many texts and emails is that?
Mama: Hundreds or thousands.
Julia: Wow. That's a lot of work. I don't want to be the prisoner of a college. I mean, I want to work at the college, but that would take a long time to write that many texts and emails.
Mama: Actually, you can just write the note once and send it to all thousand or more people at once.
Julia: You mean you can write it just once and press send to everyone all at once?
Mama: Yup.
Julia: You don't have to write the same note a thousand times?
Mama: Nope.
Julia: Wow. That's great.
I guess I could do that job.
