The feeling of Christmas and the winter holidays is in the air.  爸爸 (Baba) has put up the Christmas tree.  Presents are filling the space underneath it.  We are all doing well.  Our baby sister is due in a month.  Our first cousin on 妈妈’s side is due in a month too and Jo Ayi thinks he will be early!  It’s festive and we’re feeling the excitement.

My 小姐姐 (xiao3jie2jie2, little big-sister) suggested to妈妈 last week or two that妈妈 should speak to me in Japanese so妈妈 has started with this third language.  She can ask me now where my (みみ or mimi) are and I can point to them!  I also wave good-bye whenever we say いってらっしゃい (“go forth and you’ll be welcome back”) to my big sisters when they go to school in the morning.

As for Chinese, I can understand a lot – like how to express “I want more (milk)” which I do in sign language when my Ayi or妈妈 says “hai2yao4”.  I know the meaning of “milk” in Chinese.  I can point to my “nose” and “head” pretty reliably when they ask in Chinese where those body parts are.  Hmm, 妈妈 is struggling to think of other “tricks” I can do but truth is, I’m a little slower on the side of language acquisition . . .

My most astounding feat is still the potty training thing.  I am now telling people (mm, mm, pointing to my diaper) when I need to go.  Pooping on the potty for over a year and now going pee-pee on the potty, too.  妈妈 and爸爸 think I’m sooooo cooool!

Oh and the other really fun thing that happened in the last couple weeks is (November 21), I got my first haircut!  Look my before photo with Baba getting me ready, me sitting still, me combing my new hair-do, and me laughing at how cute I look in my “after” photo!
