My first two (bottom) teeth are peeking out!  Mama is absolutely certain that there was a tooth bud (on my bottom left) poking out after I was just a few months old (she remembers trying to show it to Bernice one day but I got upset with Mama’s fingers in my mouth!).  However, these are now the teeth that are supposed to come out first – just in time for my 8-month-old birthday.  Mama thinks it’s always interesting to compare with my sisters – Kiana got her first teeth at 4 ½ months and Sophia got hers around 8 ½ months.  As seems to be the case on almost everything, I’m in between my sisters two extremes, a little more like Sophia’s milestones.  I’m also beginning to crawl right at 8 months (Kiana at 10-11 months; Sophia at 6½ months).  Mama is excited that it looks like I’ll be starting more parlor tricks soon.  My biggest trick is going to the potty to poop since I was 4 ½ months old (mid-November) but looks like given what Sophia (9 months) and Kiana (10 months) were doing around nine-eleven months old, I’m going to very, very interesting very soon!

As for Daddy, well, he has a tendency to see things . . . what’s the word . . . optimistically?  He told his co-workers I’m 35 inches!  (just for point of reference, that’s almost half his height).  Well, I am tall for my age, but I’m just 28 inches.  J  Speaking of Daddy, he watched me all night last night (I’m still not reliably sleeping through the night and Mama was up from 1:30 am yesterday and exhausted by the time 7:30 pm rolled around and I was still not showing any signs of fatigue).  When Daddy and I got up about 20 minutes ago (Mom got up around 4:45 am after sleeping straight for 8 or 9 hours, that’s probably a first in my lifetime!), he gave her to me to use the potty (I pee and sometimes poop on the potty every morning when I wake up), change my diaper and give me a bottle.  Now I’m happily back in bed, cooing with Daddy who is probably pretty exhausted.

Other milestones this past month:  February 7th we celebrated the lunar (Chinese) New Year’s with good friends, Allison and Amanda, her mom Mei Ayi and our friends Shirley Ayi and her husband George.  Daddy’s (sssh, we won’t stay which one!) birthday was on February 11, and here are some recent photos:

Trying (sigh, again) to go on my first hike.  First time (Tiger Mountain), we were thwarted by my discomfort and the snow starting.  Second time (Snoqualmie Falls) we were thwarted by a closed trail.  Finally, across the street from Snoqualmie, we successfully hiked in the great outdoors!  I took a GREAT nap while we did it!
