Emma shares so many wonderful, happy, kind, and generous thoughts.  She has a great mind that is increasingly adaptable and flexible with others and with outcomes that weren’t her first choice.  And as an 8-year-old, she still has adorable expressions that I just love (and that often come from me).

I recently found an old photo of Conway 舅舅 and me and scanned it.  It was so old and faded that to me, it made more sense to scan and throw out than to try to hold onto the original.  Both Julia and Emma asked whether they might be permitted to keep the original.  I told them that I needed to ask Conway 舅舅 first since he might want it.  I doubted it, I said.  He’s not a big photo person and not especially sentimental.

They’ve both been asking what he said and I hadn’t reached out to him yet.  When I did, I was surprised to find out that he actually wants the original.

Tonight, Emma asked whether I had gotten in touch with him yet.  I said, yes, but sorry he wants it.  She looked very disappointed for a brief couple of silent seconds.  Then she picked herself up and said, “That’s too bad, but I’ll move along.”  This is definitely a mom-ism.  I often tell them, “Okay, let’s just move along” or “let’s move it along” when they get hung up on something!
