Another one of those adorable language
vignettes that are getting fewer and farther between comes from at least six
months ago. Both Julia and Emma used to
say (when having to go to the bathroom badly, or holding something heavy, or
just getting to their breaking point in some way): “I can’t last it” or “I don’t know if I can
last it.”
I don’t know where the speech pattern
came from exactly. It’s like saying, “I
can’t endure it” or “I don’t know if I can take it anymore” or “I don't know
how long I can last without going to the bathroom.” But instead it came out for years as “I can’t
last it.”
Anyway, it’s cute and I MISS IT!
