There is an annual turkey trot in our
neighborhood! It was my first one and we
had so much fun. Everyone who could ran
or walked 2 or 5 miles, and they gave out prizes and had coffee and cider and
food. The weather was perfect, a crisp 35
degrees or so. Mama wished that she had
her running shoes (instead of the heels she was wearing -- not very well
prepared). Baba jogged with Chesky. I got to eat my first cranberry bread. It was a GREAT morning. Thanksgiving dinner was terrific as well. It was just the four of us. Little O-nee-chan has a cold so she slept
during the meal. I got Mama and Baba all
to myself and I loved Mama's stuffing (no turkey yet this year, maybe next
year!). Here's Mama's stuffing recipe (fry
up some onions, garlic, celery, cranberry, apples and pomegranate seeds, add to
cubed whole wheat bread, add chicken stock and bake at 350 for an hour . . .
YUM!). And here are Mom's and Dad's
dinner plates. Guess which one is which:
(hint:
there are candied yams on one plate and not the other . . . also, a
little known fact about Mama relates to one of her best friends from college,
Cynthia -- Cynthia once told her that she liked eating with a spoon, instead of
a fork, because it was less violent; that stuck in Mama's head and heart, and,
wouldn't you know it, Mama usually eats her food with a spoon . . . or
o-hashi!)
